National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) and Petaluma Valley Hospital Ratify New Contract

[PETALUMA, CA. – May 28, 2020] – We are pleased to share that caregivers represented by the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) at Petaluma Valley Hospital voted to approve a new four-year contract.

The hospital and union have been meeting at the bargaining table several times a month since negotiations began in May of 2019. Tyler Hedden, chief executive at St. Joseph Health, Sonoma County, reiterated his gratitude to the hospital and community for their patience and support in reaching an agreement.

“We want to acknowledge and thank all the team members from Petaluma Valley Hospital and NUHW who worked together to create a fair and equitable contract,” said Hedden. “Your commitment enabled us to get to where we are today.”

The four-year agreement covers the period from ratification through May 2024 and reflects the hospital’s commitment to ensuring an exceptional workplace experience for our caregivers.

“The agreement includes competitive wages and benefits, professional growth opportunities, and ensures a safe and respectful work environment,” said Hedden. “Together, we will continue to carry out our mission of providing safe, compassionate care during this unprecedented and challenging time.”
