Yesterday was a difficult office appointment. Much to the Provider's credit, he did an excellent job covering a particular span of time in my life and care, test results, his recommendations and observations. That said, it felt as if there was a certain level of disconnect in our communication, and for that i will take some of the responsibility. I gave him a 3 in the above two areas because i felt blindsided by the pace of events, felt as if i was being farmed out to another specialist, whom i have never met, to perform an important procedure. I am new to the world in which he practices and do not, rather did not, understand certain protocol. I don't feel that he understood what my concerns and worries were, and i found that to be unsettling. Again, it was a difficult office visit and perhaps i was not as articulate and assertive as i could have been. I do know that i felt very uncomfortable when i left and i think that it was the communication issue, or lack thereof. I did not fully understand the role that he would play in my care post-surgery. As noted above, it was just a difficult visit for me and i don't think that it was anyone's fault or personal shortcoming. Sometimes people, try as they may, communicate as well as they are hoping to and the listener may have not fully grasp the content of the message.
