Open Mon-Fri from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed on holidays.
The Surgery Center is an outpatient department of Santa Rosa memorial Hospital.
It is located across the street from the main hospital and cares exclusively
for surgical patients who are having surgery and going home the same day.
The center performs a wide variety of outpatient procedures in orthopedic,
general, plastic, urology, ear, nose, and throat, and gynecological specialties.
The five fully equipped operating rooms are located on the 17,000-square-foot
second floor of the new building.
The center is designed to be user-friendly, offering easy access and comfort
to patients and visitors. The center's spacious waiting room is equipped
with several data ports, so visitors can bring along a laptop computer.
Another convenience the new center offers is private pre- and post-operative
pediatric rooms for young patients. The rooms are equipped with cribs
and rocking chairs to allow parents to stay with their children before
and after surgery.
Two of the five Operating Rooms at the Center are state of the art EndoSuites
integrating medical video equipment with ceiling mounted suspension systems,
providing increased efficiency and ergonomics in the operating room. These
EndoSuites also offer unprecedented visibility into the human anatomy
with high-definition 42" flat panel monitors, which displays with
superior output. The Operating Rooms are a family of surgical suites designed
to create the optimal operating environment for the surgeon, staff, and
most importantly, the patient.
The center is self-contained, handling its own instrument processing and
sterilization onsite. This means time can be used more efficiently to
treat patients quickly and have them heading home faster, and to allow
surgeons to keep on their schedules
Things to remember before surgery:
- not swallow any water. These same restrictions apply to children. Children
under ten years of age should not even brush their teeth on the day of surgery.
- You can prepare for surgery by not smoking. Smoking produces mucous and
increases the chances of complications during surgery. Patients who have
asthma, emphysema or bronchitis should avoid cigarettes completely for
at least 48 hours prior to surgery. The Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Surgery
Center is a smoke-free environment.
- To ensure your safety, you MUST arrange for someone to take you home and
you may need someone to stay with you.
- We encourage you to list your medications and any questions you may have,
so that you will have them available at the time of your telephone interview
with the pre-admissions nurse.
- If you wear contact lenses, please bring a container for these lenses or
wear your glasses on the day of your procedure.
- Please leave valuables such as jewelry, wallet or purse at home. All jewelry,
including wedding rings and any piercings, must be removed prior to surgery
to ensure your safety. The only thing you need to bring is your insurance cards.
- If you develop a cold, persistent cough, fever, or other health problems,
or if you need to cancel your surgery please notify your physician.
