Stroke Care
Santa Rosa Memorial and Petaluma Valley Hospitals are both certified in
stroke care by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO). Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is certified as a Primary Stroke
Center and Petaluma Valley Hospital is the first hospital in California
to receive the advanced certification for Acute Stroke Ready Hospital.
Our Stroke Center is ready 24-hours a day, seven days a week to care for
anyone who may be suffering from a stroke. Using evidence-based protocols,
we can rapidly assess, diagnose and treat a variety of stroke and stroke-related
problems including transient ischemic attacks (TIA), as well as ischemic
and hemorrhagic strokes.
The Stroke Center features the teamwork of physicians specializing in emergency
medicine, neurology, neuroradiology, physiatry, neurosurgery, and vascular
and endovascular surgery. State of the art CT and MRI scanners are available
around the clock, with an expert always on hand to interpret brain imaging
scans. We also provide Sonoma County's only hospital-based acute and
neurological rehabilitation units, specializing in the evaluation and
treatment of brain disorders and injuries. We are members of the National
Stroke Association’s Stroke Center Network.
